During my last year at university I discovered motion graphics. My professor showed us a music video that his son had created called, The Loving Sounds of Static, by Mobius Band. While I was watching this masterpiece that brilliantly combined motion graphics, visual effects and music I was taken aback by how captivating it was. At that point I knew it was a career I wanted to pursue.

After spending about five years as a teacher and graphic designer, I finally took the leap to becoming a motion designer. I enrolled in School of Motion's animation boot camp and spent the next twelve weeks in an intense course learning how to use After Effects to fully achieve the principles of animation.

My first job as a motion designer was challenging. It was in a production house that was fast paced and included some very long hours. However, I learned a great deal and was constantly progressing my skill set. During that time I learned what it really took to be a motion designer. Not only did I learn After Effects and Cinema 4D proficiently, but I also developed my skills of understanding what it takes to create great motion.

Since then I’ve worked on a variety of projects, for many different clients but the goal is always the same. Which is to create extremely compelling pieces in the most engaging way possible. This means creating videos that are professional and exceed client expectations. In order to ensure that I do this, I spend a great deal of time refining my craft. Much time is spent honing techniques, learning new ones and pursuing innovative methods. Personal creative experimentation and continual learning is essential to my approach as a motion designer. This is a way for me to bring forth the best version of myself in pursuing a career that I love.
